Joyce (Scott) Majorowicz, 88, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Manson. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson with burial following at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Palmer, IA. A Rosary Service was held at 3:45 p.m. with visitation to follow from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home – Weishaar Chapel in Manson.
Joyce was born in Davenport, IA on August 12, 1938, to Raymond and Monica (Murray) Hughes. She grew up in Palmer attending country school and then graduating from Palmer High School in 1956. She then went on to the American College of Beauty in Des Moines. Joyce was united in marriage to Lester Scott on October 26, 1957. They made their home in Palmer where she owned Joyce’s Beauty Fashion in downtown Palmer for 60 years. Joyce was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Red Hat Society. She was a member and played the organ for many years at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Palmer, and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pomeroy and St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson. Joyce enjoyed playing cards, BINGO, going to the casino and loved going to see her sons at different events with Scott Amusements. Most of all she loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by children Leslie Balsley, Christy (Kent) Bower, Russell Scott, Rob (Lorna) Scott, Angela (Gary) Tesdell and Ryan (Makenzie) Scott; grandchildren Cory (Kayleen) Scott, Nikki Scott, Austin Scott, Hansel (Kirsten) Molina, Vanesa Rodriguez, Alexis (Brad) Draeger, Brittney (James) Nelson, Brandon Bower, Carson Bower, Palmer (Tasia) Scott, Aaliyah (Jordan Walker) Scott, Bryce (Hailey Derry) Scott, Vanessa Scott, Ebony Scott, Viatris (Rives) Scott Hargis, Kaleb (Shanin Sebetka) Scott, Nate Scott, Scotty Tesdell, Addisyn Tesdell, Olivianna Walstrom, Jett Scott and Monica Scott; great-grandchildren Brittney Blaha, Allison Scott, Autumn Scott, Destiny Scott, Jaxson Scott, Jordan Holl, Xander Holl, A.J. Demoss, Bella Demoss, Ean Nelson, Millie Nelson, Gwen Draeger, Langley Scott, Everly Clara Marie Scott, Aspen Walker, Stetson Walker, Kai Scott, Alena Molina and Anthony Molina; daughters-in-law Vivian Hernandez and Karen Fischer; her brother Thomas (Maggie) Hughes; her sister Shirley (Gary) Weiss; sisters-in-law Victoria Longmire and May Scott. Joyce was preceded in death by her husbands Lester Scott and Raymond Majorowicz; her parents Raymond and Monica Hughes; son Rick Scott; her in-laws Nancy Selecman, John Scott, Johnine Kunz, Sandy Blaser, Frances Putney and Gary Longmire.
